you're not brown, just tan.

Multimedia Installation and Video Series, 2009-2011
Exhibited at the McDonough Museum of Art and Trestle Gallery.

You’re not brown, just tan reduces Khoshbin's cultural memories to icons. These icons are transformed into hybrid objects where the form is Iranian and the material is taken from her youth in suburban America (BackgamMonopoly, UpholsteRug). With a television at the center of the installation space screening a series of "shows" she created in different TV styles- cooking show, music video in which she sings the only five words of Farsi she knows, and movie trailer- she also utilizes the medium that shaped her identity to disseminate her hybrid set of cultural cues to the viewers.
